The Ottawa National Diving Club had the privilege of hosting the 2019 Ontario Summer Provincial Championships on the weekend of May 17-19.
Our club was well represented by 5 athletes out of the 130 divers from around the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
This was one of the largest junior competitions this season but our team pulled off another successful competition.
We begin with the highlight results!
Our competition started off with a bang as Kathryn Grant took home the provincial GOLD MEDAL on her 1m event. She later went on to take home 3 more medals over the course of the weekend!
Talia W. set two new personal bests on the 3m springboard and 10m platform events. She debuted her new front 3.5 somersaults in pike from 10m over the weekend and finished up the weekend with 1 SILVER and 3 BRONZE medals!
Catherine Boyer found success in all her finals events earning 3 top 6 finishes including a BRONZE MEDAL on 1m!
Emmanuelle R. had one goal over the weekend, to qualify for the national championships on her 1m event and she crushed it! She is now attending her first ever jr nationals on the 1m and platform events!
Finally Audree Howes found her way into the top 6 on all her finals events over the weekend! A huge congratulations to all our divers for your hard work and great weekend!
A huge thank you goes out to all our volunteers over the weekend. No small detail was left untouched. Whether it was the amazing food for divers and coaches, inserting scores on tables, helping with medal ceremonies to manning our prize tables we thank you for your time and support! And a thank you to Dave Randall for all the awesome pictures from Sunday’s events!
Another congratulations goes out to all our raffle prize winners and a HUGE congratulations to our Lottery winners! We had 3 winners in the Ottawa area take home $5000, $3000 and $1000 on Sunday!
We want to thank Mayor Jim Watson for taking the time to come in to speak to all the competition attendees and for drawing our winning names!
